Message from the Representative

A system-development consultation does not always begin with the requirements neatly organized. In fact, it more often starts before things have been put into words — before it is clear what the real problem is or where the true bottleneck lies.

After studying mathematics at university, I worked on various systems as a contract developer, and then on image-processing products for semiconductor manufacturing equipment. What I learned again and again is that building exactly what the specification says does not produce something truly good. Only after asking “why is this needed?” does the shape of what should be built come into view. I experienced that many times.

That is why KomuraSoft welcomes consultations from before the requirements are settled. Understanding the customer’s situation and background, looking through to the users beyond them, and thinking together about what is truly needed — that is the kind of contract development I want to do.

One more thing I want to hold on to is opening technology to society. Technology is not something reserved for specialists; it is infrastructure that supports society as a whole. Beyond contributing to the customers in front of us through contract development, I intend to keep working on raising the broader level of technical capability through writing on the blog and teaching.
